After a century of technological improvements, the production techniques are now very mature.Milk cotton yarn is actually milk protein obtained after skimming and removing water from liquid milk, adding softener to make milk slurry, which is then spun into milk protein fiber through wet spinning process and scientific treatment, and further spun into milk cotton yarn that can be woven.

  • Very soft: milk cotton yarn made of milk protein and cotton has a soft and skin-friendly touch, and its softness and skin-friendly properties are equal to or better than cashmere, and it has a natural and lasting antibacterial function

Compared with pure cotton fabrics, the production process of milk cotton yarn is more complicated:

1. Milk must go through multiple processing steps such as degreasing and dehydration to remove fat and moisture. After fermentation, a substance similar to fitness casein powder is produced.
2. Extract casein
Casein is extracted from the resulting substance and ground into fine powder. The milk powder is then dissolved and purified to improve purity.
3. Making spinning solution
Casein is dissolved in an alkaline solution (such as sodium potassium hydroxide) and vacuum degassing to form a homogeneous spinning solution
4. Wet spinning molding
The spinneret is immersed in a coagulation bath containing sulfuric acid, formaldehyde and glucose, and the nascent fibers are extruded through the spinneret holes to become thin bundles
5. Acid curing treatment
Further curing in an acid curing bath (containing formaldehyde or acrylic acid derivatives) will shape the fibers
6. Stretching and finishing
As the wheel turns, the fibers are stretched and become stronger and thinner. These fine fibers are rolled onto the bobbin. After being thoroughly rinsed to eliminate any residual chemicals, the fibers are dried and twisted.
7. Finished product processing
Milk cotton yarn is made into various fabrics through finishing processes such as dyeing and weaving.

Is milk cotton yarn eco-friendly?

The core raw material of milk cotton yarn is milk casein, usually leftover whey and low-value casein from milk processing. This is a form of waste utilization, reducing waste from the food industry.

Does milk cotton yarn easily cause allergies?

We previously mentioned that milk protein fiber originates from milk by-products. After processing, it loses the antigenicity of natural milk and will not cause protein allergies like drinking milk. Furthermore, cotton fiber and acrylic are themselves low-allergy materials.   • Washing: It is recommended to give priority to cold water hand washing, machine washing requires a laundry bag, select the gentle mode, and the water temperature is below 35℃ (be sure to check the label care instructions before washing, and some blended materials require special methods).
  • Dehydration and drying: After washing, gently press to squeeze out the water, and hang it in the shade to dry or lay it flat on the clothes net to prevent deformation caused by stretching, avoid direct high temperature sunlight, and dry it on the reverse side to prevent fading.
